Learning from past mistakes, Apple has been on a supposed patent regulation indulgence. Now, the tech giant has filed a patent for new technology in US, which will help you save a bad fall as you text while you walk. With this patent, Apple will exclusively own the rights over this smart texting feature wherein you can see the path ahead as you on your screen, as you type text while walking.
According to the patent filed, Apple said, “A user who is walking while participating in a text messaging session may inadvertently collide with or stumble over objects in his path because his attention was focused on his device’s display instead of the path that he was traversing.”
According to a TOI report, this patent was first filed in 2012, and it detailed the “potential extensions of the concept of transparent texting” that centred on webpages and internet surfs. It described swapping of the background of a webpage to a live video feed.
Now your texting is safer as Apple aims at replacing the text background on your phone screen, with a live video feed of what is in front of you. Since most people don’t tend to keep a track of the path-ahead as they text while walking, “Apple’s ‘transparent texting’ aims to solve this problem by overlaying messages on a live video feed from the rear camera of the smartphone.”
According to a Tech crunch report, this new feature can be activated in Apple devices by selecting a ‘transparency’ button that will be given by the maker, as you start texting. The button will swap the background to a live video feed from your usual wall. The text will appear over the video, which can either be semi-transparent of opaque.
