Apple has initiated testing of 3D printers for the production of smartwatch casings

Apple is currently in the process of testing 3D printers to create the steel frames of its upcoming smartwatches, as per information from sources familiar with the matter, reported by Bloomberg News.

This innovative production technique would eliminate the need to cut metal components into the desired shape, potentially speeding up the manufacturing process and contributing to environmental sustainability.

If successful, this approach could simplify Apple’s supply chain, and the company might extend this technology to other products in the coming years. Although Apple has not yet responded to requests for comments on this matter from Reuters, reports indicate that they are also considering applying this method to their titanium Ultra watch, although this transition is anticipated for 2024.

Apple’s fall event, scheduled for September 12, is expected to introduce a new range of smartwatches and iPhones, as analysts speculate.
