Apple is currently in the process of developing its next generation of Apple Silicon chips, and it is anticipated that the M3 chips will be unveiled in the near future as successors to the existing M2 processors.
Rumors suggest that Apple is likely to introduce a new MacBook Air featuring the M3 chip in the coming months. However, the most high-performance devices using these chips are expected to be launched next year.
According to a recent report by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is planning to launch high-end MacBook Pro and Mac Mini models powered by the Apple M3 chipset, but these devices are not expected to debut until next year.
Gurman mentions in his Power On newsletter that while an M3 version of the Mac Mini is in the works, it won’t be released in the immediate future. The expected timeframe for the launch of the M3 Mac Mini is late 2024. Similarly, the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models featuring the M3 chip are anticipated to be released in the middle of 2024.
However, Apple’s first series of M3-powered Mac devices is set to be unveiled as early as October this year, including a 13-inch MacBook Pro, a 13-inch MacBook Air, and a 24-inch iMac.
The upcoming Apple M3 processor is likely to be manufactured by TSMC using its advanced 3nm process, offering substantial improvements in performance and power efficiency compared to the current-generation M2 chips, which are made using a 5nm process.
