Apple may add larger batteries in iPhone 15 series

In September 2023, Apple is expected to introduce its next generation of iPhones, known as the iPhone 15 series. This lineup is rumored to include various models such as the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

According to a report from South Korean publication ITHome, there are speculations about the iPhone 15 series receiving an upgrade in battery capacity. The rumors, originating from Weibo and shared by ITHome, suggest potential battery capacities for the different iPhone 15 models.

The iPhone 15 might feature a 3877mAh battery, marking an 18% increase compared to the iPhone 14. The iPhone 15 Plus is said to have a 4912mAh battery, which would be a 13.6% increase from its predecessor and the largest battery ever used in an iPhone.

The iPhone 15 Pro could come with a 3650mAh battery, representing a 14.1% increase, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max is rumored to sport a 4852mAh battery, a 10.9% increase. Additionally, it was reported that all models in the iPhone 15 series, including the standard versions, may feature a 48MP primary camera.

Sony has reportedly requested TSMC to handle the color filter film for its camera modules due to production capacity constraints. The demand for the 48MP camera is said to have increased as Apple plans to upgrade the entire iPhone 15 lineup’s camera setup, not limited to the Pro models, based on the report.
