AquaKraft launches Aquafluence, Centre of Excellence and Influence for Water Sustainability

AquaKraft Projects Pvt. Ltd., (www.aquakraft.net) (AquaKraft) announced the launch of  AQUAFLUENCE,  a Centre of Excellence and Influence for Water Sustainability set up under the joint R&D agreement between the prestigious Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) (www.ictmumbai.edu.in) & AquaKraft Projects Private Limited, AQUAFLEUNCE will specialize in research, education, and innovation related to water. 

AquaKraft, formed on July 2010, is a next-generation impact & sustainability enterprise driving innovation & actionable solutions in the area of clean drinking water & sanitation. AquaKraft has been advocating sustainability since its inception and has implemented drinking water & sanitation solutions across India that are energy-efficient, green and sustainable.

ICT (formerly known as UDCT) is a world-renowned academic institution very well known for imparting quality education in Chemical Engineering and allied areas. It is a public state university in Mumbai, with the Government of Maharashtra according to it the Elite Status and Centre of Excellence in the State Assembly on April 20, 2012. This is a singular distinction accorded to any institute in the entire country.

AQUAFLUENCE will be launched by Hon’ble Gajendra Singh Shekhawat – Minister for Jal Shakti, Govt. of India, on July 25, 2023, at the ICT Campus in Matunga, Mumbai from 4 pm to 7 pm. AQUAFLUENCE will be governed by a Governing Council comprising eminent personalities from Academia & Industry led by Prof. Aniruddha Pandit, Vice Chancellor of ICT.

Under the joint R&D program with ICT, AquaKraft is innovating sustainable solutions from emerging challenges in water quality & quantity, while optimizing its existing portfolio of green solutions that are recognised for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

The main objective of AQUAFLUENCE is to develop the next generation technologies and capacity aligned with the emerging challenges and trends in Water Sustainability & Stewardship.

The key focus areas of AQUAFLUENCE will be: –

  1. Innovation, Research & Development (Water Quality & Quantity)
  2. Water Governance, Policy & Standards
  3. Test Bedding & Certification Centre for Water Technologies 
  4. Digital, Smart Water & Water Foot Print accounting
  5. Water Economics
  6. Water Fellowships, Training & Skill Building
  7. Water Sustainability, Knowledge & Consulting
  8. Strategic Partnerships (Domestic & International)
  9. Advocacy

AQUAFLUENCE, being the first-of-its-kind, which is focused on pure science, sustainability, training, economics & advocacy, aims to play a crucial role in advancing knowledge and practices related to water, promoting sustainable water use, influencing water stewardship, showcasing India’s impactful water policies & programs while supporting the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). Aquafluence will collaborate with various stakeholders, including governments, non-governmental organizations, multilateral & bilateral agencies, research institutions, and the private sector, and local communities. The Centre will be housed in the ICT Campus at Matunga, Mumbai.

The launch will see the unveiling of innovations under the joint R&D agreement, a roundtable on ‘Be Water+ve – emerging trends in water sustainability’ along with announcements on strategic initiatives. The launch event will be attended by Industry leaders, Sustainability Professionals, Innovators, Academia, Government and media.
