Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has introduced its latest offering, the Gionee Elife S5.5. At mere 5.5mm, the Gionee Elife S5.5 might just be the world’s slimmest smartphone to date. At its thickness, the device surpasses the Vivo X3 smartphone (5.75mm thick). It’s currently available for pre-order on Gionee’s China page at a price of about Rs 23,000.
The Gionee Elife S5.5 features a 12.7-cm (5-inch) display (of unknown resolution). It is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core CPU and 2GB RAM. The device will run the copany’s Amigo UI on top of Android. Further, it has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. It features a 2300mAH battery similar to the one found in the company’s flagship, Elife E7. The device can run for a whole day in a single charge.
The 3G model is now up for pre-order in China for around $370. It will be further launched in 40 more countries. At the same time, an LTE version of the device is expected to arrive in June. Earlier, the company had launched two new Android smartphones in India: the Gionee M2 and the Gionee Gpad G4 priced at Rs 10,999 and Rs 18,999 respectively.
