Autodesk has joined forces with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing the skills of future engineers, designers, and innovators. This partnership seeks to prepare students for successful careers in the design and make industries, leveraging Autodesk’s industry expertise and IIT Bombay’s leadership in education, research, and innovation.
The collaboration will focus on equipping top talent with the skills necessary to contribute to India’s technological growth. The MoU was officially signed by Steve Blum, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Autodesk, and Professor Ravindra Gudi, Dean of Alumni and Corporate Relations at IIT Bombay, in a ceremony held at the IIT Bombay campus. The event was attended by Andrew Anagnost, Autodesk’s President and CEO, and Professor Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay.
This partnership is part of Autodesk’s ongoing effort to bridge the gap between academia and industry, providing students with access to Autodesk’s advanced software tools, including Fusion, Forma, and Flow platforms. These tools will enable students to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies and prepare them for the fast-evolving design and manufacturing industries.
Professor Kedare highlighted that the collaboration will foster innovation and enhance the employability of graduates, positioning them to be key contributors to India’s scientific and technological progress. Autodesk’s tools will help bridge academic learning with industry needs, preparing students for challenges in architecture, engineering, construction, media, and entertainment.
With the global Design and Make industries set to employ nearly 300 million people and represent $30 trillion in value by 2027, Autodesk aims to broaden access to essential tools and training. More than 5 million students in 14,000 schools across India already benefit from Autodesk’s software, gaining critical skills for today’s competitive workforce. Autodesk also supports WorldSkills and IndiaSkills, where its software was used by over 900 students competing in skills competitions nationwide.
