Benchmark Gensuite, a leading provider of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and sustainability solutions, presented a groundbreaking session on “Compliance to Competitiveness in ESG and Sustainability with Digital” at the Sustainability Leadership Summit in Bengaluru on November 4, 2023. Naveen G.V., Global Development Officer and Managing Director of Benchmark Gensuite, highlighted the crucial role of digital tools in helping organizations address their ESG goals and combat climate change.
In his presentation, Naveen underscored the pressing issue of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and their significant contribution from various industries. He emphasized that digital tools are paramount for organizations to strategically plan their ESG initiatives, efficiently reduce their carbon footprint, and report investment-grade ESG data under various global and regional frameworks including GRI, CDP, BRSR, and more! These tools enable companies to accelerate their journey towards net-zero emissions and take concrete climate action, ensuring a sustainable and competitive future.
Leading up to the main event, Naveen G.V served as a member of the judging panel during the inaugural Youth Climate Conclave, a simulated Conference of Parties, which took place on November 3rd. The conclave featured participation from six teams representing four cities in India, thereby establishing a platform to showcase the pivotal role of the nation’s youth in advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives and sustainability objectives.
“The challenges posed by GHG emissions and sustainability are immense, but digital transformation empowers organizations to take control and drive meaningful change,” Naveen stated during his presentation. “At Benchmark Gensuite, our commitment to providing innovative ESG and sustainability solutions is aligned with the global push towards a greener and more sustainable world.”
Naveen’s presentation was just one of many informative and inspiring sessions at the Sustainability Leadership Summit. The event featured an address by the Karnataka Environment Minister, Eshwar Khandre, who stressed the need for Public-Private Partnerships to harness the combined resources, expertise, and innovation of the government, business groups, and civil society for sustainable development. He also called on the private sector to align their strategies with sustainable development goals.
“Bengaluru, often referred to as the Silicon Valley of India, is not only a hub of technological innovation but also a microcosm of the challenges and opportunities we face in the pursuit of sustainable development,” Minister Khandre noted. “We cannot ignore the issues of urbanization, traffic congestion, pollution, and access to clean water and sanitation.”
The event also witnessed the unveiling of the Bengaluru Declaration, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A. Ravindra, Chairman of the Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD), expressed that this declaration would chart the future course of action towards sustainable development for all stakeholders, including government, industry, NGOs, and the youth. He highlighted the importance of the Sustainability Leadership Summit, which culminated two decades of work on sustainability issues, including water, waste, energy, and the environment by CSD.
Benchmark Gensuite remains dedicated to empowering organizations with cutting-edge digital ESG and sustainability solutions, and their participation at the Sustainability Leadership Summit reaffirms their commitment to driving positive change.
