In the Geo-political advancement through India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India’s innovative AI-based language platform, Bhashini, would be shared with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). This move aims to facilitate cross-cultural communication and cooperation among member countries. PM Modi was attending a virtual meet conference with World Leaders where his Chinese and Russian counterparts were also present, it was the 23rd summit of SCO.
The SCO was founded at a summit in Shanghai in 2001 by the presidents of Russia, China, the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. India and Pakistan became its permanent members in 2017. Currently, the SCO’s official languages are Mandarin and Russian. India has been pitching for also including English as the official language of the grouping.
Bhashini, which means “linguist” in Sanskrit, is a revolutionary language platform developed in India, harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI). It enables seamless translation and interpretation services across multiple languages, breaking down language barriers and promoting effective communication on a global scale.
We would be happy to share India’s AI-based language platform, Bhashini, with everyone to remove language barriers within the SCO. This can serve as an example of digital technology for inclusive growth.

Speaking at the SCO summit, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the importance of language as a medium of expression and understanding. He emphasized the need for technology-driven solutions that facilitate communication among diverse cultures and languages, ultimately fostering stronger ties between nations.
Speaking at the 23rd SCO Summit, he emphasized, “This can be a prime example of using digital technology to promote inclusive growth.” PM Modi’s proposition to share Bhashini further enhances the cooperative spirit of the organization and underscores the importance of leveraging technology to overcome language barriers that hinder effective communication and collaboration.
The decision to share Bhashini with the SCO reflects India’s commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation and promoting technological advancements in the region. With Bhashini, India aims to provide SCO member countries with access to advanced algorithms and machine learning models ensure accurate translations and interpretations, allowing individuals and businesses to communicate effortlessly in their preferred languages.
