BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen recently showed off the yet-to-be-announced Passport at the company’s earnings report and annual meeting.
Even as BlackBerry gears up to introduces its square-shaped ‘Windermere’ smartphone, aka, BlackBerry Passport in September at an event in London, the Canadian handset company has now opened pre-registrations for the much-anticipated device. The company newly took to its official blog to make the formal announcement. “You can pre-register to receive emails about BlackBerry Passport availability and other upcoming BlackBerry products and services.” quotes the blog.

Chen had however not revealed anything concerning about the exact date of availability and pricing of the device. The devoted pre-registration page can now be used to get more insight into the soon-to-be-launched device, and with the recent scheme of things, looks like BlackBerry is indeed in quite a rush to launch the device. Up until now, all we have heard of are some rumored specifications of the unique ‘square shaped’ device with BlackBerry shying away from giving out any information regarding the same.
The Passport smartphone will reportedly feature a 11.43-cm (4.5-inch) display with a resolution of 1440×1440 pixels. There’s no information about the processor in the device. Other rumored specifications of the device include 3GB of RAM, a 13MP rear camera, and a 3,450mAh battery. Notably, the rumored specifications are based on a BlackBerry developer listing, therefore the final product has quite the chance to come with the same.
