Samsung’s Galaxy M series is a lineup of mid-range smartphones positioned below the more advanced Galaxy A series. The latest addition to this series, the Galaxy M44, with the model number SM-M446K, has been subjected to benchmark testing on Geekbench, as reported by 91mobiles. Surprisingly, Samsung opted for an unusual choice for the device’s application processor, using the three-year-old Snapdragon 888 SoC. Typically, M-series devices feature Samsung’s homegrown Exynos chipsets, making this decision noteworthy. The benchmark also revealed that the Galaxy M44 had 6GB of RAM during the test, with a potential 8GB variant. The device is expected to run on One UI and Android 13 out of the box.
The model number ending with “K” indicates that the tested version is for the South Korean market, but the device is likely to debut in India first. Compared to the recently released Galaxy M34, the Galaxy M44 is expected to offer new and improved features. The Galaxy M34 features a 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Its camera setup includes a 50MP primary camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro sensor. On the front, it has a 13MP selfie camera.
Previous Galaxy M series phones have been known for their large batteries, and the Galaxy M34 is equipped with a 6000mAh battery supporting 25W fast charging. It is likely that the Galaxy M44 will have a similar battery setup.
The Galaxy M34 was recently released with a price tag of Rs 16,999 in India (approximately $207 USD). Considering the expected new features, the Galaxy M44 is likely to be priced higher than its predecessor.
