New “Screen Share” Feature Allows Contacts to View Your Phone Display.
According to the company, the new feature enables users to share excerpts from websites, documents, and showcase smartphone tricks with their contacts.
Similar screen-sharing functions are available on platforms like Zoom, Apple FaceTime, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet.
Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, stated that the screen sharing feature allows users to provide a live view of their screen during calls, whether for work-related purposes, sharing photos, planning activities, or aiding others with technical support.
Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, even shared an image of himself on a WhatsApp call where screen sharing was in progress.
In the upcoming weeks, a “Share” button will appear on the app, allowing users to share their entire screen or just a single app.
Users are advised to ensure that sensitive information is hidden before activating the sharing option.
In addition to screen sharing, WhatsApp now supports landscape video calls, offering a wider view to users’ contacts.
Meta recently announced that users will soon have the ability to send one-minute video messages within their chats.
