Networking Giant Cisco India has been going through leadership instability for the last one year or so. In a recent move, the company’s President and Country Manager for India & SAARC region, Jeff White, has decided to step down. White took over the reigns only last year in January 2013 after replacing Naresh Wadhwa, who had spent almost fifteen years in Cisco.
The company’s confirmed White’s exit and said, “Dinesh Malkani will replace Jeff White, who is returning to the US to be closer to his family.”
In the new restructure, Malkani, Vice President, Sales, Cisco India & SAARC, will lead sales in India & SAARC, and will report to Irving Tan, President for Asia Pacific and Japan. While Amit Phadnis, Vice President, Enterprise Networking Group will now be the new India Site Leader. Amit replaces Surya Panditi who re-focuses his role as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Service Provider Networking Group.
In addition, Cisco has moved VC Gopalratnam, Vice President, IT and CIO for Asia Pacific, Japan and Greater China, to a newly created role as Chief of Strategy, Planning and Operations for Cisco India.
Apart from Dinesh, Amit and Gopal who all will work closely with the extended leadership team as well as India’s executive sponsors, Wim Elfrink, Executive Vice President, Industry Solutions & Chief Globalisation Officer, and Anil Menon, Senior Vice President, Smart+Connected Communities and Deputy Chief Globalisation Officer, to accelerate customer success through a continued focus on innovation, technical expertise, and delivery excellence.
Globally, Cisco has been strong in the switching and router space but with technology shifting towards new areas such as cloud, mobility and big data analytics, the company has embarked on a transformation game plan towards IT services and solutions. Apart from the enterprise segment, the company is using these capabilities to get deals from the Governments, one of the biggest consumers of IT.
