Smartphone maker Chinese Company Gionee’s latest offering, the Elife S5.5 is now available via the company’s official website at a price of Rs 22,999 for quite sometime now.
However, the device is bogged down by a number of frustrating issues, primarily overheating that has dented its sales in the market. The company has now released Android 4.4 KitKat update for Gionee Elife S5.5 and claims to have solved the issue all together for good.
The Gionee Elife S5.5 is the world’s slimmest smartphone to date. At its thickness, the device surpasses the Vivo X3 smartphone (5.75mm thick). Gionee had launched Elife S5.5 in India last month. The Gionee Elife S5.5 also features a 12.7-cm (5-inch) Super AMOLED Plus display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. It is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core processor (unspecified chipset) coupled with 2GB of RAM. It sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera. It comes with 16GB of internal storage which is non-expandable. The single-SIM device runs Gionee’s Amigo 2.0 UI on top of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, USB OTG, and FM radio. It decks in a non-removable 2300mAh battery.
The OTA update (865.71MB size) for the device is now available for download, users simply need to check for the availability under Setting > System Updates and the download and install shall follow. But more importantly, the company claims to have solved the overheating of the device that’s being the real talk of the town ever since its launch.
