Google Chat, a widely used tool by organizations worldwide, recently underwent rebranding and is now known as “Spaces.” Along with the name change, Spaces received several useful features, including the ability to host meetings directly from the chat box. One significant improvement is the increase in the number of members allowed in a Google Chat space, which has now been expanded from 8,000 to 50,000 users.
In a blog post, Google stated that this change is part of their ongoing efforts to enhance communication and collaboration for teams of all sizes within Google Workspace. The increased capacity is expected to promote better connectivity and a stronger sense of belonging among team members. Google aims to foster broader and more thriving communities within organizations through this update.
Google has made a significant jump in the capacity of members allowed in Google Chat spaces, increasing it from 8,000 to 50,000. This enhancement comes alongside other recent features, such as message editing, reactions, and message thread creation within spaces. Additionally, searching for specific members is now more straightforward, enabling users to change roles for present members or add new ones to the space.
The large spaces feature has been immediately rolled out, but it may take up to 15 days for all users to receive it. The search functionality will be gradually rolled out on the web, starting on July 20. Android users will receive the member search feature starting on August 7, and iOS users will experience a gradual rollout starting on August 28.
It is essential to note that these features are available exclusively for Google Workspace customers.
