Google has reportedly lodged a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) expressing dissatisfaction with Microsoft and Oracle, its two major competitors in the cloud computing industry.
In the complaint, Google accuses Microsoft of employing unfair licensing terms to gain an advantage in the market and restrict customers from using other enterprise software options.
Google also raises concerns about cybersecurity risks associated with Microsoft’s dominant position. Additionally, Google criticizes Oracle for its complex agreements that aim to lock in customers and limit choice, ultimately increasing costs and disrupting digital ecosystems.
Interestingly, this accusation against Microsoft and Oracle comes despite Google facing similar allegations of unfair practices in the past. The letter of complaint was submitted following an FTC inquiry into the business practices of cloud computing providers, including issues related to market power, competition, and security risks. As of now, there has been no response from Microsoft or Oracle regarding Google’s complaint.
