Google is exploring the incorporation of artificial intelligence into its Chrome browser, with plans for an AI settings section to manage Chrome’s automated tab organization and a new autofill assistant.
The Advanced section, accessible through hidden developer flags, is currently in development and available to select testers.
The settings are associated with AI, as indicated by the URL chrome://settings/ai. While the tab organization feature was previously seen in development as part of the Search tab chevron interface, it is now being tested as part of the AI settings.
A button labeled “organize tabs” is expected to appear automatically in the settings section, allowing users to sort their tabs automatically.
Although earlier reports did not confirm if the feature is AI-driven, its inclusion in the AI settings suggests it may use a machine learning algorithm.
A video accompanying the social media post reveals a single toggle for “Show additional settings,” which, when activated, reveals another toggle for “Autofill helper.”
The post did not elaborate on the autofill helper feature but noted its original name was “Compose.” In addition to the Chrome browser, Google is actively incorporating AI into various products, such as Google Bard, a competitor to ChatGPT, and AI-driven photo tools like Magic Eraser and Magic Editor on Google Photos.
