Google has been developing an “Augmented Reality Microscope” (ARM) in collaboration with the Department of Defense, aiming to help pathologists detect cancer.
The ARM integrates AI enhancements to offer visual indicators like heatmaps and object boundaries in real-time while examining biological samples on slides.
Google intends to retrofit existing light microscopes found in hospitals and clinics with ARM technology, which can provide various visual feedback elements tailored to specific assessment goals.
Although there are 13 prototypes of the ARM currently being tested, they have not yet been used for patient diagnoses.
