Google has entered into a partnership with CleanMax Enviro Energy Solutions, a Brookfield-backed leader in renewable energy and net-zero solutions in Asia’s Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector. This collaboration will see CleanMax develop a 125.4 MW hybrid energy project, comprising 66 MW of solar capacity in Rajasthan and 59.4 MW of wind capacity in Karnataka. These projects will be connected to India’s national grid and contribute to Google’s goal of running on 24/7 carbon-free energy across all its cloud services and offices in the country by 2030.
Mr. Kuldeep Jain, Managing Director of CleanMax
Kuldeep Jain, Managing Director of CleanMax, expressed excitement about this partnership, emphasizing the shared goal of decarbonization. He noted that the collaboration sets a new benchmark for environmental responsibility and underscores the mutual commitment to combating climate change. Mr. Giorgio Fortunato, Head of Clean Energy & Power for Asia Pacific at Google
Giorgio Fortunato, Google’s Head of Clean Energy & Power for Asia Pacific, highlighted “that this initiative supports Google’s sustainable growth in India. He pointed out the importance of strategic collaborations in transitioning to low-carbon energy systems.”
These projects, set to begin operations by Q4 2025, are expected to produce around 350,000 million kWh of carbon-free energy annually, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 250,000 tons each year. This impact is equivalent to planting 14.7 million trees annually, demonstrating the project’s significant contribution to addressing climate change.
