Google Photos may get a cinematic effect feature

Google is reportedly testing a new feature for its photo-sharing and storage service, Google Photos, that allows users to create cinematic effects on-demand. According to Android Police, some users have noticed this option appearing under the ‘Utilities’ section in the Library tab of Google Photos. The feature enables users to select a photo and specify the duration of the resulting video. The Google Photos app then generates a slow-motion zoom animation based on the chosen image, although the quality of the effect will depend on the original photo.

In addition to this upcoming feature, Google Photos already offers the ‘Magic Eraser’ tool, powered by artificial intelligence (AI), which was introduced in February 2022 for Google One subscribers. This tool is available to Android and iPhone users, as well as Pixel users. The Magic Eraser tool can detect and remove disturbances in photos, such as photo bombers or power lines. Users can circle or brush over the unwanted elements in the photo, and the tool will make them disappear as prompted.

Google Photos also includes other important features, such as automatic backup, allowing users to back up their locally saved images and videos on a daily basis. The app enables users to share photos and albums with others using shareable links. Additionally, users can edit their photos within the app, with options to crop, rotate, adjust exposure, and balance colors. iPhone users can also transfer their device’s photos to the cloud-based storage service, but they need to enable the ‘Backup & sync’ feature and log in to their Google Account.
