Google is reportedly testing Ultra HDR support for Google Photos, following its announcement of Android 14’s Ultra HDR format support.
Ultra HDR enables 10-bit HDR images that are compatible with both HDR and non-HDR screens, enhancing color and contrast on HDR displays.
The evidence of testing comes from a new code version, v6.51.0.561138754, spotted in Google Photos in late August.
Google aims to optimize SoCs in collaboration with chip giants like Qualcomm for Ultra HDR and make it the default format for various photo-related functions in Google Photos.
