Google Search update brings revamped UI, personal info removal tool enhancements, and more

Google has introduced a more convenient method for users to erase personal and confidential data from its search results. Although Google Search initially served as a means to retrieve online information, it has evolved into a comprehensive tool, aiding users in diverse tasks like planning trips and safeguarding their privacy. Last year, a tool dubbed “Results about you” was launched, permitting users to eliminate personal details like phone numbers, addresses, and emails from Google Search. Now, this tool has been upgraded to proactively monitor fresh personal information surfacing on the web, notifying users for potential removal. Although not entirely automated yet, future updates may bring this functionality.

Furthermore, a revamped dashboard will enhance user experience, facilitating the tracking and elimination of personal data from Google Search. Presently, this feature is accessible to users in the United States and available in English. However, Google intends to extend this feature to encompass more regions and languages. Additionally, Google aims to heighten the safety of its Search platform by automatically obscuring graphic and adult content through the SafeSearch feature, set to roll out this month.

Moreover, the company is refining its policy concerning explicit personal images online, streamlining the process for users to eliminate such content from Search results. However, Google clarifies that while search outcomes can be eradicated, the actual content remains unaffected on the internet. Thus, users seeking content removal must explore alternative avenues. Although content elimination might not be absolute, this initiative marks a significant stride towards ensuring privacy, likely pleasing many users.
