Google’s Gemini Ultra AI will be available on OnePlus and Oppo devices

At Google’s Cloud Next 2024 conference, OnePlus and Oppo revealed plans to integrate Google’s Gemini Large Language Model (LLM) Ultra 1.0 into their smartphones later this year.

Gemini LLM comes in various tiers, with Nano being the smallest version designed for on-device usage, set to debut on the Pixel 8 soon. On the other hand, Ultra represents the most advanced cloud-based iteration, powering the Gemini Advanced chatbot.

This version possesses the ability to comprehend complex tasks and contextual cues to provide valuable responses. Alongside Gemini, OnePlus and Oppo devices will also gain access to select Google Cloud AI features, although specific details regarding these features remain unclear. Additionally, it’s uncertain how the integration of “Gemini Ultra” differs from accessing the Gemini Advanced chatbot through a web browser.

While the announcement indicates a significant advancement in AI capabilities for OnePlus and Oppo smartphones, further clarity is needed regarding the specifics of this implementation. More information is expected to surface in the coming weeks and months. Despite the promising development, the actual implementation may still be some time away. OnePlus recently announced its intention to introduce its version of Google’s Magic Eraser feature to certain devices, suggesting a concerted effort by OnePlus and Oppo to capitalize on the growing interest in AI technology.
