Google has fully launched its Nearby Share app on Windows, allowing users to share files between Android phones and Windows PCs without an internet connection.
The app was previously limited to sharing between Android devices only. With this update, users can now see a preview of shared images and get an estimate of the transfer time during the process.
Additionally, Google is collaborating with certain Windows OEMs to integrate Nearby Share into select Windows PCs, making the feature more widely available.
This move competes with Microsoft’s nearby sharing functionality built into Windows 11 and 10, potentially making Google’s app the preferred choice for file sharing between devices.
