Google has introduced a new note-taking app called NotebookLM, which utilizes personalized AI technology to enhance learning speed. Initially unveiled as Project Tailwind at the Google I/O event in May, the app is currently in an experimental phase as part of Google Labs.
Google has introduced a new AI-powered note-taking app called NotebookLM, which aims to reimagine the concept of note-taking software. Currently available only for Google Docs, the app utilizes a powerful language model to provide critical insights and assist with summarizing facts, explaining complex ideas, and making connections based on selected sources.
One of the key goals of NotebookLM is to address the issue of ‘hallucination’, where incorrect information is confidently generated by language models. To mitigate this, Google employs a process called ‘source-grounding’ that allows the AI to analyze user notes and sources for accurate answers.
However, Google advises users to cross-verify the AI’s responses with the original source material. NotebookLM offers features like generating summaries, key topics, and questions based on added Google Docs, and is currently only available to users in the US through a waiting list for Google Labs.
