HID Global, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, today announced that its networked access controllers and readers have been selected by the National University of Singapore Suzhou Research Institute (NUSRI) in China to enhance campus security and facility management. The solution fully leverages the university’s existing TCP/IP network investment to deliver a web-based access control system that provides centralized monitoring and report generation, as well as the ability to establish staff access level settings and control the usage of facilities.
With dozens of geographically dispersed buildings that house expensive equipment, NUSRI’s new access control solution includes HID Global’s VertX® V1000 network controllers, VertX® V100 door/reader interfaces, and smart card readers to monitor access to different buildings and enable advance reservations functionality to access key campus facilities such as laboratories, hazardous materials storage rooms and machine rooms.
“After our extensive assessment, we selected HID Global’s physical access control solutions for its leading technology and comprehensive product functionality,” said Mr. Xu, project manager of integrators of NUSRI. “The open architecture IP-based access control solution supports the system already deployed in the field to save cost. Additionally, the system is scalable to enable future expansion, which addresses the growing demands of our campus and subsidiaries, while also providing better cost control.”
“We are very pleased that NUSRI selected HID Global’s solution to enhance their security and facility management,” said Eric Chiu, sales director of Greater China with HID Global. “We will continue working closely with the local integrator to identify and solve the school’s future security requirements as its needs evolve.”
Benefits of the new system include:
Increased security: Tracks control access restrictions in labs, residence halls and other areas, while improving reporting so the security team can provide building usage input for access policy decisions.
Facilities usage control: Grants access to authorized personnel within predefined reservation hours to ensure the facilities are properly used and to prevent accidents caused by unauthorized access.
Cost and time savings: Leverages the existing network and credentials to save overhead costs related to wiring and accelerate the installation time. The scalable solutions can be quickly expanded or adapted as the need demands.
Interoperability: Seamlessly integrates with video surveillance and fire alarm systems for multi-dimensional security management.
