Honor has introduced a novel concept called the V Purse, a fusion of a foldable phone and a clutch bag, offering a stylish and practical accessory. This device features an outward-folding wraparound display and customizable appearance with interchangeable straps and chains. Honor envisions the V Purse as a means to blend electronic devices with fashion, providing ample room for personal expression.
However, it’s important to note that the V Purse is primarily a concept phone and not a functional purse for storing items. Nevertheless, it can be worn like a purse using detachable chain-link straps. Due to its outward folding screen, Honor offers interactive and changeable wallpapers, allowing users to match them with their outfits. These wallpapers include an interactive furry texture that responds to touch, creating a petting sensation and a “phygital” bracelet with interactive charms that open various apps when touched. The device also features an always-on-display.
Honor has collaborated with prominent figures, including Burberry menswear design director Bram Van Diepen, contemporary artist Yunuene Esparza, dean of the China Academy of Art International College Yuan Youmin, and interdisciplinary artist Xiao Hui Wang, to design the V Purse’s Always-On Display (AOD) styles. Moreover, the brand plans to open the platform for AOD designs to encourage global developers and designers to create custom looks.
In terms of sustainability, Honor has made efforts to be environmentally friendly by utilizing sustainable materials like vegan leather for the straps. The device is exceptionally thin, measuring only 9mm in thickness, even thinner than the company’s latest foldable phone, the Magic V2. While detailed hardware specifications are limited, Honor has disclosed that the hinge is designed to endure 400,000 folds, showcasing its durability.
