UK-based international professional body – the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) will be hosting its 2nd IET Advantage Job Fair for engineering candidates in October. The two-day event, open to IET Members (engineering students, fresh graduates and young professionals with 1- 6 years of experience) studying or working in India will be held at SRM University, Chennai on October 10-11, 2014.
Final year engineering students and fresh graduates of 2014 across the nation are eligible to apply for the Job Fair. They will be selected through a three-step filtering process that includes an online shortlisting process, an aptitude test and a technical evaluation round.
Azra Fathima, Head – Marketing & Communications, IET India said, “This landmark initiative, and perhaps the first one of its kind to be hosted by a professional engineering body aims to encourage core engineering jobs along with the more popular IT and CSE jobs. It is also our endeavour to address the knowledge-skill gap by ensuring that pre-screened candidates meet with employers, after going through a filtering process.”
The IET will conduct an industry-standard Aptitude test (AMCAT) that will take place in various engineering colleges across India. Shortlisted candidates from the aptitude test will then be assessed on their technical skills and knowledge of their engineering stream through a Technical Talent Test. The IET has set up this robust filtering process to ensure that only high calibre; qualified candidates meet the employers at the IET Advantage Job Fair.
The event is open to its Advantage members and the IET does not collect any fees either from students / candidates or employers at any stage, to participate in the IET Advantage Job Fair. This includes no charges to students/candidates to take part in the aptitude and technical evaluation test.
Eligible engineering students across India can apply for the Job Fair here http://events.theiet.in/jobfair/about.html. Last date to apply is September 20, 2014. The aptitude tests will be held on September 26 and 27, 2014.
