iPhone users are facing a Twitter link preview issue

In many messaging platforms, when users share a link to a social media post, a link preview is automatically generated, providing a summary of the content with a title, description, and thumbnail. However, there have been reports that Twitter link previews are not functioning properly on certain messaging platforms. According to a report from 9to5 Google, some users of iMessage and Slack are experiencing blank link previews when sharing Twitter links.

This issue specifically affects the rich media preview feature on Apple’s iMessage, which is available on iPhones, Macs, and other Apple devices. Typically, when iPhone users share a Twitter link, the preview would display the tweet’s content without requiring the recipient to click on the link. Additionally, if the tweet includes attachments, such as images or videos, a thumbnail would be shown in the preview.

The malfunctioning Twitter link previews have disrupted this seamless experience for users, as the expected previews are not being generated on the affected messaging platforms.

According to the report, the issue of Twitter link previews not functioning properly on certain messaging platforms may be attributed to a disconnect between Twitter and Apple servers. When users share tweet links, the preview only displays twitter without any context. Although the bug may resemble Apple’s Lockdown Mode feature, which restricts opening links in iMessages, the impact of the Twitter link preview issue appears to be less severe.

Despite the absence of previews, users can still click on the links, which will redirect them to the specific tweets. Therefore, the issue seems to affect only the preview aspect, while the functionality of the links remains intact. If users encounter this problem and cannot see the preview, they can click on the link to access the tweet on the Twitter website or app to view its content. Nevertheless, the absence of Twitter link previews can be inconvenient, particularly for users who frequently share and comment on tweets.

It is worth noting that similar issues have occurred in the past for iPhone users accessing Twitter.
