Samsung and Amazon have teamed up to offer exclusive book deals
Samsung and Amazon have today announced an exclusive partnership from which the two companies have produced a Kindle branded e-reader app. The application will only be available on Samsung devices and will debut on the Samsung Galaxy S5. It will then roll out to Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets which are running Android 4.0 and above.
The application called “Kindle for Samsung” will come with some Samsung Book deals at launch. The deal will provide 12 free eBooks every year to Galaxy device owners signed up to the service. There will be a selection of four titles every month .
“We’re delighted to be able to deepen our long-standing relationship with Amazon and offer Kindle for Samsung as the perfect app for reading on a smart device.” said Lee Epting, Vice President, Samsung’s Media Solution Center Europe. “With this service we demonstrate our commitment to creating and broadening key content partnerships that deliver rich and personalised experiences for our customers,”
It’s not just book though, Kindle for Samsung will offer newspapers and magazines as well. There’s over 500,000 exclusive titles at launch.
There’s also a new Whispersync feature which saves the last page you’ve read so you can pick up right where you left off. Alongside that there’s Time To Read, which measures how long you’ve got left to read the book depending on your reading speed.
If you’ve got a compatible Samsung Galaxy device you can download it right now for free from the Samsung Apps store in over 90 countries. In fact, we’ve just downloaded it right now on our Samsung Galaxy S5. You’ll need an Amazon account or to set one up to access anything though.
