Rumors Hint at MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Processor Surpassing Expectations Ahead of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Launch
According to a reputable leaker, MediaTek is gearing up to unveil its highly anticipated flagship processor, the MediaTek Dimensity 9300, this month, just ahead of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 launch scheduled for October 26, 2023. Recent leaks suggest that the Dimensity 9300 offers even better CPU clock speeds, core structure, and GPU capabilities than initially anticipated.
Digital Chat Station, a popular leaker on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, has shared intriguing details about the MediaTek Dimensity 9300. This upcoming processor is expected to feature eight CPU performance cores, a unique configuration without any CPU efficiency cores, setting it apart in the Android smartphone market. The core structure appears to be organized in a 1+3+4 configuration, with one ARM Cortex-X4 Prime core, three ARM Cortex-X4 cores, and four ARM Cortex A720 cores.
According to the Weibo post, the CPU’s peak clock speed is projected to exceed 3.25 GHz. Additionally, the Dimensity 9300 is reported to include the latest ARM Immortalis G720 MC12 GPU for mobile processors. In benchmark scores on Antutu v10, Digital Chat Station claims that the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 outperformed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in both CPU and GPU categories.
Regarding power efficiency, Digital Chat Station has chosen to remain tight-lipped until MediaTek officially launches the Dimensity 9300 later this month. Previously, it was confirmed that the Dimensity 9300 would be manufactured using TSMC’s advanced N4P process, a 4 nm process node known for delivering improved performance and power efficiency compared to the N5 and N4 processes. The Cortex-X4 cores in the Dimensity 9300 are expected to provide a 15% boost in performance while reducing power consumption by 40%. Furthermore, the Cortex-A720 cores are anticipated to achieve a 20% increase in energy efficiency.
