Leaked renders of the Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro hint at the possibility of launching these models with exclusively eSIM support in certain regions

Google is preparing for the launch of the Google Pixel 8, the upcoming iteration following the Google Pixel 7. Leaks and rumors have pointed to an expected launch around late October 2023. As the launch date approaches, a recent leak has unveiled renders of the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

The renders, shared by OnLeaks and noticed by Mishaal Rahman, indicate that the SIM tray is absent from the device. This absence contrasts with earlier renders of phones like the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7, which featured visible SIM card slots on the left side of the phone. This has led to speculation that the Pixel 8 might only support eSIM, at least in certain regions. It’s worth noting that this information should be taken cautiously, as render details can sometimes be incomplete.

Interestingly, another post by Za_Raczke displayed the SIM tray clearly located on the left side of the device.

Rumored specifications for the device include a 50MP main rear camera paired with a 64MP IMX787 ultra-wide-angle lens to enhance photography capabilities. The Pixel 8 is anticipated to run on a Tensor G3 chip, Google’s in-house developed processor. The phone is expected to feature a 6.7-inch OLED panel boasting a resolution of 2992 x 1344 pixels. It’s also speculated that the device will be available with storage options of 128GB and 256GB.

Notably, earlier reports have hinted at a unique feature known as “Audio Magic Eraser,” which allows users to eliminate unwanted background noise from their videos. This innovative feature is a first for smartphones, providing users with an enhanced video editing experience. More details can be found in the comprehensive report linked here.
