Extending its current support to the users, Lenovo– the third largest smart connected device producer globally, has started rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat update to its S series smartphones S930, S650, S820, S920, S660 and the P 780. The updates will be made available in a phased manner starting from this week ending with the S660 update even out in September.
With this update all the smartphones get the UI available in the Vibe series and the Lenovo Premium DOit Apps. The update further supports better application compatibility along with further security enhancements and bug fixes, and the UI gets a new simple clutter free look and a user friendly incoming call interface. The resourceful auto focus and white balance capabilities ensure better camera experience with clearer, sharper, vividly rich and vibrant images. The upgrade will also boost Lenovo power manager for improved battery consumption.
“After rolling out updates for Vibe Z, Vibe X and S860 last month, we are now bringing Android 4.4 to six of our mid-range smartphones at various price points. These updates are poised to take the user experience of these phone to a different level,” says Sudhin Mathur, Director- Smartphone, Lenovo India. “In the last two years in India, we have grown leaps and bounds launching over 18 smartphones, each addressing specific user requirement, and we aim to continue this growth flight with newer models and iterations.”
The enhanced notification access, updated theme centre, automatic profile changer and expanded accessibility APIs are some of the key upgrades that comes with this update. The update also equips the smartphones with features such as the face orientation rotation feature, the smart call feature, smart swipe, pocket mode, parental mode and the smart dialler.
The Lenovo Premium DOit Apps like “SECUREit” which is a security app helps you track, analyse and optimise your data usage. The award winning “SHAREit” app provides the fastest phone-to-phone data transfer capability without the need for Wi-Fi or mobile network. “SYNCit” is another innovative app that lets you to have a permanent backup of all your data and makes it accessible to you on any device.
It is recommended that users back up their data before updating their phones from Android 4.2 (Jelly bean) to 4.4 (Kitkat).
