Meta Introduces AI Chatbots Allowing Users to Text and Seek Guidance from Celebrities like Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, and Others

It’s not an everyday occurrence for users to send messages to Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, or Kendall Jenner, let alone seek their advice in their respective fields. However, Meta has introduced a series of artificial intelligence chatbots that make this possible. The company has created 28 AI assistants that users of WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram can engage in conversations with. These virtual chatbots embody the personas of well-known figures, including Mr. Beast, Naomi Osaka, and Tom Brady. Meta has hinted that users may soon activate this feature in their Instagram direct messages.

Each chatbot’s identity deviates from the real names of the celebrities they represent. For instance, Paris Hilton becomes “Amber,” Snoop Dogg adopts the name “Dungeon Master,” Kendall Jenner transforms into “Billie,” and Mr. Beast goes by “Zach.” These identities correspond to specific roles as chatbots. According to Meta’s revealed list, Paris Hilton serves as the user’s detective partner for solving mysteries, Snoop Dogg guides users in choosing adventures as the Dungeon Master, and Kendall Jenner offers advice with a ride-or-die approach as the Big Sister.

Although the concept of these 28 AI chatbots emulating famous personalities is intriguing, Meta acknowledges that their technology is still in its early stages. The chatbots’ knowledge base, except for Meta AI, Bru, and Perry, is primarily rooted in information existing before 2023, which means some responses may not be up-to-date. Meta states, “We aim to bring search to many more of our AIs in the coming months – like we have done with Meta AI – so that conversations can be timely and relevant too.”

These celebrity-inspired AI chatbots, with their unique backgrounds and roles, provide users with a sense of interaction in the digital realm. To fully capture their cultural and influential personas, Meta has even created profiles for them on Instagram and Facebook, allowing their fans to explore their personalities. The beta version of these new Meta AI chatbots was introduced in the US on September 27th, 2023. Meta also plans to introduce additional characters in the coming weeks, portrayed by individuals such as Bear Grylls, Chloe Kim, and Josh Richards, among others.
