Meta (formerly known as Facebook), had given the leisure of Work from Home to its employees way back in July 2021, after addressing the serious pandemic issue which was lurking the whole world at that time of the year with CEO Mark Zuckerberg releasing a statement which said that the company realized that irrespective of the location, it was possible to get good work done. Since then, the company has changed its name once, but the employees haven’t been asked to change their working places, that is their homes.
But now as the situation of COVID-19 in the world has improved almost everywhere in the world, Meta has decided to make a change in its remote work policy with asking its employees to attend the office now , atleast 3 days in a week. This is to be followed since September 5th of this year.
According to The Information, Meta acknowledged that transitioning to a more in-person work environment may require adjustments from employees. However, the company believes that returning to the office will support collaboration and contribute to its future endeavors.
Other big Tech Giants like Amazon, Apple and Google have already made modifications to their remote work policy prior and their employees have already started attending the offices atleast thrice a week, as these big giants have already indicated this change through mass layoffs in recent times as the companies aren’t making sustainable profits as desired to make up with the number of employees employed. Meta itself has followed this trend, and it has laid off 11,000 employees from its working shelf indicating that it needs an integrated atmosphere now to achieve futuristic results.
Since November, when the organization had roughly 87,000 employees, about 21,000 people have lost their employment at Meta, cutting the company’s worldwide headcount by about a quarter. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg emphasized in a public post that an internal investigation conducted in March revealed the enhanced performance of early-career engineers when working alongside colleagues in a physical office setting for a minimum of three days per week. He encouraged Meta employees to explore additional opportunities for in-person collaboration.
