Microsoft users were just starting to get accustomed to Windows 11 when rumors of a new update, Windows 12, started circulating. Speculations suggest that Windows 12 will be launched by the end of the year and will bring new features, including a floating taskbar.
Although Microsoft has not officially confirmed the existence of Windows 12, there have been indications pointing to its development. Screenshots from the Build 2023 developer conference hinted at a “next generation” of Windows, likely referring to Windows 12. Microsoft has also mentioned a “Next Valley Prototype Design,” believed to be a codename for the upcoming version.
During the Ignite 2023 conference, Microsoft unintentionally suggested a floating taskbar feature for the new operating system. Reports suggest that Windows 12 may be released in the third quarter of 2024, with a wider deployment in 2025, following a similar pattern as the launch of Windows 11 in 2021.
