Microsoft to launch Budget Windows Tablet in India

ht_microsoft_cc_120823_wgAndroid is the most used platform for tablets that are available in almost all price ranges.But, now Microsoft is reportedly planning to launch budget Windows tablets. These tabs is likely to be priced at Rs 10,000, and will be launched in India, by the end of this year.

In a TOI report, Amrish Goyal, the director of Windows business group, said, “We will probably not sell a tablet for Rs 5,000. But yes, we will sell tablets with a price of around Rs 10,000 by middle of this year.” It is to be noted that none of the Windows-based tablet is priced below Rs 20,000.

He confirmed that the tablets will be made by Microsoft’s traditional computer partners like HP and Dell, as well as, by local Indian firms like Karbonn and Lava. However, Goyal did not revealed no further information over the devices, as of now.

Currently, the Android OS based tablets are available in all price ranges, starting from Rs 4,000, as against to a few Windows platform tablets that are made by HP, Acer, Lenovo, Asus, and Nokia. It is speculated that this move by Microsoft is part of a bigger plan by the company to counter Android. Recently, Microsoft owned Nokia, released an Android OS smartphone with a new customised Nokia App Store.
