Microsoft is reportedly planning to launch three new Windows Phone 8.1 devices this year, codenamed ‘Superman’, ‘McLaren’, and ‘Rock’. Now, a fourth device has shown up as the subject of photos from a user on Chinese microblogging website Weibo, thought to be the Lumia 830.
Speculated to be a mid-range device, the Lumia 830 is said to be the successor to the Lumia 820. Although not much is known about the phone right now, from the images it appears to have an aluminium frame with a polycarbonate back, similar to what we saw on the Lumia 925 and Lumia 930. Also it has a smaller and more compact camera module on the back, which has a PureView camera shape. From the front, the alleged Lumia 830 looks more like the latest Nokia XL smartphone.
Previously a report had claimed that the rumoured Microsoft Nokia Superman will come with a 4.7-inch display and can be expected to launch by the end of this year. The smartphone is said to be the company’s first selfie-focused Windows Phone.
Talking about the device codenamed McLaren, an earlier report had suggested that the high-end device could be the flagship Windows Phone from Microsoft this year, featuring a 3D touch or Kinect-like gesture-based interface. The report had suggested that the McLaren will be a Lumia 1020 successor and will feature a hump for rear camera at the back panel.
A month earlier, serial tipster @evleaks also leaked the company’s handset roadmap for 2015, a list that also included the Nokia McLaren. Coming to third-rumoured handset codenamed Rock, the smartphone is said to be a low-end device that could be something similar to Lumia 530. Up till now nothing else is known about the device.
