MSI, the Taiwan-based laptop manufacturer, has officially commenced its production operations in India with its first manufacturing facility in Chennai. As part of the “Make in India” initiative, MSI will initially produce local versions of its MSI Modern 14 and MSI Thin 15 laptops.
India, being one of MSI’s fastest-growing markets, is central to the company’s expansion strategy. MSI aims to support the country’s technology ecosystem by delivering high-performance laptops built to international standards. To enhance accessibility, MSI is increasing its presence through branded stores and partnerships with major retailers like Croma and Reliance Retail.
The locally-manufactured MSI Thin series and Modern series laptops will start at ₹73,990 and ₹52,990, respectively. MSI also plans to introduce more advanced configurations of the Thin series to meet the diverse needs of Indian consumers.
John Hung, the NB General Manager for MSI India, emphasized that the growing demand for performance-oriented laptops in India has driven the company’s decision to start local production. He is optimistic that this move will not only bolster MSI’s market share in India but also improve operational efficiency while strengthening the country’s position in global technology leadership.
