Netflix has officially confirmed that mobile versions of Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be added to its gaming offerings for subscribers. Contrary to earlier denials, the games will be available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Netflix’s mobile app starting December 14.
Subscribers can pre-register to access the three GTA titles. Netflix’s move into gaming includes over 70 downloadable games for subscribers, aligning with its expansion beyond original TV series. The addition of popular titles like the Grand Theft Auto series is seen as a significant step in this direction.
The Senior Director of Game Partnerships at Netflix, Ray Bautista, expressed the importance of the deal with Rockstar, the developer of GTA, stating that Grand Theft Auto is a “needle mover” in the gaming industry. This development coincides with Rockstar Games’ plan to release the official trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, the highly-anticipated sixth installment in the series.
While Netflix is expanding its gaming content, Rockstar Games continues to generate excitement for its upcoming title, with a potential release between April 2024 and March 2025.
As Netflix ventures further into the gaming landscape, it aims to provide subscribers with a diverse range of gaming content, complementing its established presence in the streaming industry.
The availability of iconic titles like Grand Theft Auto enhances the gaming experience for Netflix subscribers and contributes to the platform’s evolving strategy in the entertainment industry.
