NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang also discussed the potential of AI with Prime Minister Modi and NVIDIA’s role in India’s transformation.
NVIDIA will supply Jio with a comprehensive AI supercomputer technology package, encompassing CPU, GPU, networking, AI operating systems, and frameworks for AI model development. Jio will manage and maintain the AI cloud infrastructure.
NVIDIA has partnered with two major Indian conglomerates, Reliance Industries and Tata Group, on September 8. These partnerships aim to not only establish AI infrastructure in India but also to reskill and upskill a significant portion of the country’s tech workforce.
In collaboration with Reliance Industries, NVIDIA plans to create India’s own foundation for large language models (LLMs) that are trained in various Indian languages. This AI cloud infrastructure will provide researchers, developers, startups, scientists, AI practitioners, and others in India with access to accelerated computing and secure cloud networking, promoting energy-efficient workloads.
NVIDIA’s partnership with the Tata Group involves three key aspects: developing and deploying generative AI applications, upskilling over six lakh (600,000) employees of India’s largest IT services company, TCS (Tata Consultancy Services), in AI, working with Tata Motors to implement AI across various areas such as design, styling, engineering, simulation testing, and autonomous vehicles, and assisting Tata Communications in constructing AI infrastructure.
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, expressed his belief that computing and technology supercenters like the one envisioned with NVIDIA will significantly contribute to India’s digital progress, just as Jio did for the country’s digital transformation.
