The GeForce RTX 4070, the newest and cheapest model in the 40-series of desktop graphics cards, was just unveiled by Nvidia. The graphics card will be available for purchase beginning on April 13.
IT Voice had already covered the release and specifications of the RTX 4070 Ti in early January on our website.
The RTX 4070 is powered by a scaled-down version of the AD104 GPU built on the most recent Ada Lovelace architecture from the manufacturer.
The RTX 4070 features 5888 CUDA cores against 7680 in the RTX 4070 Ti, which uses the same GPU, and can boost to 2475MHz as opposed to 2610MHz. Both systems use the same memory, a 12GB GDDR6X module with a 192-bit bus, a 21Gbps speed, and a 504GBps bandwidth.
The RTX 4070, like the other GPUs in the 40-series, has 4th generation Tensor cores and 3rd generation RT cores, allowing for capabilities like DLSS3 frame creation and shader execution reordering. Additionally, the RTX 4070 only has one 8th generation NVENC encoder for AV1 encoding as opposed to two on the other 40-series cards.
With a total graphics power of 200W and a claimed average gaming power of 186W, the 4070 is no lesser than its predecessor(s) such as the 3080, while running on half the power.
The RTX 4070 has a 13GB memory, compared to the 10GB of memory offered by the 3070. Nvidia claims that the 4070 has 1.4x better frame generation than the 3080 and is 2.6x faster than the 2070 Super.
The RTX 4070 releases today for a starting price of ₹62,000 straight from Nvidia as well as from board partners like ASUS, Colorful, Gainward, GALAX, GIGABYTE, INNO3D, KFA2, MSI, Palit, PNY, and ZOTAC.
4070 and other 40-series customers will also recieve the new Overwatch 2 Battle Pass Bundle with additional OW2 coins till May 8, 2023.
