Here’s the interview snippet from the interaction with Mr. Rajat Jain, Co-founder, Pataa Navigations.
Saumya: How is Pataa not a map and navigation organization?
Rajat: Pataa is a digital addressing app that converts any long and complex address into a unique digital address code on which voice directions and property photos can be added. You can easily share it with your visitors and delivery personnel who can navigate to your place with precision.
Saumya: What was the inspiration behind the inception of Pataa?
Rajat: The inspiration behind the inception of Pataa came to us during a trip. Unfortunately, we lost our way and were unable to reach the precise location. It was a hassle to find the exact location, so we came up with Pataa which is benefitting millions of users with features like geo-tagging, navigation, voice directions, property photos, additional instructions etc.
Saumya: How can digital addresses help in last-mile guidance?
Rajat: A research was conducted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, (MIT) in which they found that due to the unstructured addressing system, India loses about 75,000 crore rupees every year which is a huge loss and is approximately 0.5% of India’s GDP.
Digital addresses can reduce this cost as delivery companies and visitors can directly reach to given address without getting lost. Features like exact geotag, voice directions and photos makes it easy for delivery guys to reach last mile location.
Saumya: How is Pataa different from other navigation apps?
Rajat: Pataa is extremely different from other navigation apps and that’s the reason we’ve been getting a great response from our users since we launched in April last year.
While most navigation apps use satellite data or data available from maps, Pataa solves the problem of long and complex addresses through data that is actually fed by the users themselves.
Saumya: Being located in Indore, what’s your take on Indore as India’s first
smart address city?
Rajat: Making Indore India’s first smart address city will bring a sense of pride to us as well as the local natives. Being the first to witness this technological excellence instils a feeling of immense joy.
Saumya: What new features are you planning to add to your app?
Rajat: We are planning to add a host of new features. Some notable ones are :
Drone Deliveries
With drones being the future of fast and contactless deliveries, we are coming up with ‘Drone Pataa’ as drones only understand the language of latitude and longitude.
Augmented Reality
Pataa’s AR will combine real world and technology generated environments. This will improve the navigation experience for the users
Location Intelligence
With location intelligence, we will be able to reach locations that are not mapped on the app but with predictive analysis of locations that we do possess data of.
Chat and VoIP calls
Pataa’s Chat and VoIP calling feature will allow people to chat and call each other without leaving the app.
Saumya: What are your thoughts about the growth potential in the navigation
app market?
Rajat: The navigation app market is a vast one and getting through the last mile is a bigger challenge than finding an address. Pataa is providing the solution that is making the last mile easy.
Apart from this, AR and VR usage will increase as well as location intelligence services will be on the rise. Drone deliveries will also take centre stage as one of the main innovations to make hyper local deliveries faster.
