Pegatron, an Apple supplier, will continue to suspend operations at its Indian facility for a second day following a fire

Apple supplier Pegatron has instructed its factory workers to stay home for a second consecutive day following a fire at its plant in southern India.

Although the company didn’t provide a reason for the directive, it had called off all shifts on the previous day due to the fire incident.

While Pegatron stated that the fire was under control and had no significant financial or operational impact, production has been affected.

The factory has a daily production capacity of approximately 26,000 iPhones, but in recent months, it has been assembling only 8,000-12,000 per day.

Pegatron accounts for 10% of Apple’s iPhone production in India, according to Counterpoint.

Apple has been increasing its focus on India by pushing for local manufacturing and assembly of its devices.
