Redmi 12 smartphone with crystal glass design to launch in India on August 1

Xiaomi is preparing to introduce its latest smartphone under the Redmi brand in India. The company has officially announced that the Redmi 12 will be launched in India next month, following its recent release in China. Xiaomi took to Twitter to share the news, stating that the Redmi 12 offers a combination of beauty and innovation, featuring a stylish design and the endorsement of brand ambassador Dish Patani. The smartphone is set to debut on August 1 and will be available for purchase online through Flipkart, mi, and offline stores across the country.

According to the teasers, the Redmi 12 will showcase a crystal glass design, adding to its appeal. Key specifications of the Redmi 12 include a 6.79-inch LCD display with a 1080×2400 pixel resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G88 chipset and offer up to 8GB of RAM. The smartphone will come with storage options of 128GB and 256GB, expandable via a microSD card. It will run on Android 13 with MIUI 14 on top.

In terms of the camera setup, the Redmi 12 will feature a triple rear camera configuration, consisting of a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro camera. For selfies, it will sport an 8MP front-facing camera. The device will also include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication and will have an IP53 rating, providing dust and splash resistance. Powering the phone will be a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.
