Samsung has sent out invites for the unveiling of its Galaxy Note 4 phablet, according to a report by SamMobile. The South Korean giant will debut its next-generation phablet on September 3, just ahead of IFA tech expo in Berlin, Germany. This date is in line with earlier rumours.
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 4 is said to come in two variant, one featuring a bendable screen and the other sporting a flat display panel. The phablet is said to feature a 5.7-inch display, same as its predecessor Note 3, but with 2K resolution (1440x2560p).
Galaxy Note 4 is also expected to get a 20.7MP camera, a major jump from the 13MP camera of its predecessor; even the new Galaxy S5 has only a 16MP camera. This camera is likely to feature optical image stabilization, a feature missing from top-end Samsung phones. Just like Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5, the next top Samsung phablet will be able to record 4K (movie hall quality) videos.
There are rumours that Galaxy Note 4 will become the first Android smartphone to run on 64-bit processor. It is also speculated that it may come with 4GB RAM.
The phablet is also expected to have 32, 64 and 128GB internal storage options, 3,600-3,800mAh battery, and support for fast 4G as well as dual-band Wi-Fi networks. Just like Galaxy S5, the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 is expected to be water- as well as dust-resistant.
It is expected that Samsung will also unveil a top-end smartwatch named Gear S, a Google Glass rival called Galaxy Blink, and a smart home platform at this Unpacked event.
An earlier report said that the smart home product line is a major part of Samsung’s plans. This effort is being led by Samsung co-CEO Yoon Boo-keun, who is eyeing not just home appliances, but also home security and energy management.
