Samsung Galaxy S5 has slowly become one of the most-awaited smartphones of this year and every new rumour seems to add a new detail about the device. A new leak allegedly reveals the yet-to-be-announced Galaxy S5 might still be sporting a plastic material, instead of the long-rumoured metallic body with a complete design overhaul.
Further, the leak also suggests some specifications of the alleged Galaxy S5, which include a 2K display boasting a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels (QHD); 2900mAh battery, and eye-scanning sensor. Notably, a device codenamed Samsung SM-G900S sporting a screen resolution of 1440×2560 pixels (2K) was leaked in December last year. The device was believed to be the Samsung Galaxy S5, and was said to feature a 5-inch or 5.2-inch display, making the pixel density an incredible 560ppi at that resolution.
In addition, a previous report had revealed that the alleged Galaxy S5 is likely to come with iris recognition or eye-scanning technology for unlocking the phone.
PhoneArena citing a source claims that the alleged device will sport a 20-megapixel rear camera with 4K video record support, contrary to earlier rumoured 16-megapixel camera on the device.
An earlier report had suggested that the South Korean manufacturer had placed an order of 181 million 16-megapixel camera modules for next year, which was thought to be equipped in company’s upcoming high-end smartphones, including the rumoured 2014 flagship, the Galaxy S5.
PhoneArena also indicates that the alleged Samsung 2014 flagship will come with a ‘wide range of health accessories’, however, does not detail about the expected features.
A recent leak points to the South Korean manufacturer unveiling two variants of the alleged Galaxy S5: a metal variant which will be priced at 800 euros (approximately Rs. 67,000), and a plastic variant at 650 euros (approximately Rs. 54,500).
Other rumoured specifications of the alleged Galaxy S5 include a Exynos 6 (believed to be the successor of the Exynos 5 chipsets) or Snapdragon 805 processors; Android 4.4 KitKat and Super AMOLED display.
An unnamed Samsung executive recently said that the alleged Galaxy S5 can be expected to be launched in March at a New York event.
