Samsung ‘Galaxy Tab Active’ 8-Inch Water-Resistant Tablet Launched

samsung galaxy tab active officialSamsung on Thursday has unveiled its first B2B and water-resistant tablet – the Galaxy Tab Active – built for businesses and professionals. The tablet device is the ruggedized version of Galaxy Tab4 8.0, launched in April.

Unlike Galaxy Tab4 8.0, the Galaxy Tab Active is dust and water-resistant with IP67 certification, and comes with an anti-shock covering, which according to Samsung can withstand a 1.2 metre drop with the protective cover on. Samsung has also included ‘C-Pen’ stylus at the top of the protective Galaxy Tab Active cover, which the company claims will provide professionals an alternative input option to fingers.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active runs Android 4.4 KitKat and features an 8-inch WXGA (1280×800 pixels) TFT LCD display. It packs a 1.2GHz quad-core processor (unknown chipset) coupled with 1.5GB of RAM.

The tablet boasts of a 3.1-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash, and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. The 16GB built-in storage on Galaxy Tab Active can be expanded via microSD card (up to 64GB).

Connectivity options on the Galaxy Tab Active include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Glonass, 3G and 4G LTE connectivity. Samsung says that the 4450mAh battery is user-replaceable. The device measures at 126.2×213.1×9.75mm and weighs 393 grams.

The Galaxy Tab Active will come in the Titanium Green colour and in two variants – Wi-Fi and LTE. Samsung is also offering its Knox security feature, along with optional three years extended warranty.
