Samsung has announced its latest product, the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2, which is set to compete with Apple’s AirTag and will be available for purchase starting October 11th

Samsung is launching the Galaxy SmartTag 2 on October 11, bringing new features and enhancements to the SmartTag lineup. The SmartTag 2 introduces a Lost Mode that allows users to input contact information via a message. When someone finds an item with a SmartTag 2 attached, they can scan the tag with their smartphone to see the owner’s message and contact details. This feature is designed to help reunite lost items with their owners.

The SmartTag 2 also offers an improved Compass View feature, providing directional arrows to guide users to the SmartTag’s location. The SmartThings Find app has been updated to include shortcuts for newly registered SmartTags, making it easier for users to locate their items. The app now features a full-screen map view and an intuitive interface.

Battery life has been extended, with the SmartTag 2 lasting up to 700 days in Power Saving Mode and 500 days in Normal Mode. The device’s compact size and ring-shaped design make it easy to attach to various items, and it has an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.

The SmartTag 2 retains popular features from previous models, including Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and UWB capabilities. It leverages Augmented Reality (AR) Find technology to guide users visually to their lost items using their Samsung Galaxy smartphone camera. The SmartTag 2 has a maximum Bluetooth range of 120 meters and can control smart home appliances through the SmartThings app. Additionally, it supports a new pet walking mode for logging walks with pets.
