Satya Nadella has confirmed that Sam Altman, former OpenAI CEO, along with Greg Brockman and other ex-OpenAI employees, will be joining Microsoft.
In a tweet, Nadella expressed Microsoft’s commitment to the partnership with OpenAI and confidence in their product roadmap.
Altman’s sudden departure from OpenAI was announced in a blog post over the weekend, citing inconsistency in his communications with the board and a lack of confidence in his leadership.
In response, Altman shared his experience in a post on X (formerly Twitter), describing it as a “weird experience” and akin to reading his own eulogy.
Despite the unexpected turn of events, he expressed love and appreciation for the outpouring of support. In the same announcement, Nadella revealed that Altman and Brockman, along with their colleagues, would lead a new advanced AI research team at Microsoft.
The company looks forward to collaborating with OpenAI’s new leadership team, including Emmett Shear, and is excited about the prospect of Altman and Brockman contributing to the success of the new AI research team at Microsoft.
